Walking at Whiffen Spit
Watercolour mounted on a cradled wood panel.
12 × 12 × 1.5” (31 × 31 × 4 cm)
2025
We fell in love with Whiffen Spit when visiting friends in Victoria. This is a magical place where a spit of land reaches out over the inlet - it is full of driftwood, sandy beach, small trees and has a stunning view out into the ocean. I painted this painting based on one of about 50 photographs we took that day. I wanted to observe the lovely drift wood and grasses in the foreground and yet include the stunning view of the ocean and the distant land.
