I am a self-taught, semi-abstract watercolorist based on Vancouver Island, where the rugged beauty of the coast serves as my inspiration. My practice is rooted in the spontaneous magic of the medium; I rarely start a piece with a plan, preferring to let the paint reveal its own story. Having discovered my passion for art later in life, I view every painting as a journey of exploration. My goal is to continually simplify my work—moving away from fine detail to capture the pure essence and meaning of a moment. For me, watercolor is an act of curiosity, play, and pure joy." 

At Jen Curtis Art Studio, my husband Dale and I work together to design and print our own greeting cards and art prints and an annual calendar which we take to various markets in the area. 

I have also partnered with a Montreal-based company to transform my designs into a premium line of pillow covers, bags, and unique gifts. If you live locally or you’re in the area, I’d love to meet you—home studio visits are always welcome by appointment.
